Acceptable Use and Anti Spam Policy
The rules for business clients and partners using Venix messaging, airtime, data and API services.
Last updated: 23 October 2026
Who this applies to
This policy applies to every business client, reseller, aggregator, developer and partner that uses Venix Cloud, Mesaj, our APIs, short codes, sender IDs or any other Venix enterprise service. It forms part of your service agreement. Breaching it is a breach of that agreement.
Consent comes first
- Send promotional messages only to people who have clearly agreed to receive them from you, and keep a record of when and how each person agreed.
- Check every promotional campaign against the NCC Do Not Disturb register and remove anyone who has opted out.
- Include a clear, free way to stop further messages in every promotional message, and act on every opt out at once.
- Send promotional traffic only within the hours the NCC and the networks permit.
- Never send promotional content over a route meant for transactional messages, such as one time codes and account alerts.
- Never start a paid subscription or charge for anyone without the consent required for that service.
Sender IDs and short codes
Use only sender IDs and short codes that are registered to you and approved by the networks. Never use a sender ID, name or message that impersonates a bank, a government body, a mobile network, Venix or any other organisation you do not represent.
Content you must not send or sell
- Fraud, phishing, scams, fake prize or lottery notices, or links to malicious software.
- Investment, loan or payment offers that have not been approved by the relevant regulator, such as the Securities and Exchange Commission or the Central Bank of Nigeria.
- Betting or gaming promotions without a valid licence from the relevant gaming regulator.
- Sexual content, content that exploits children, or content promoting violence, terrorism or self harm.
- Hate speech or content that harasses or threatens any person or group.
- False or misleading claims, including misleading advertising under the Advertising Regulatory Council of Nigeria Act 2022.
- Political or religious campaigns that have not been cleared with the networks.
- Counterfeit goods, controlled substances, or anything else that is unlawful in Nigeria.
Airtime, data and payments
Airtime, data and bill payment services may be used only for genuine transactions. You must carry out the customer checks your own licence or the law requires, must not use the service to move proceeds of crime or to fund fraud, and must report suspicious activity to us without delay.
Security
Keep API keys and passwords secret, restrict access to the IP addresses you have whitelisted with us, rotate credentials if you suspect they have been exposed, and tell us at once about any breach. You are responsible for traffic sent with your credentials.
Personal data
For the contact lists and customer data you bring to our services, you are the data controller and we act as your data processor under the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023. You must have a lawful basis for that data and must not upload data you obtained unlawfully. Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle data for our own purposes.
Monitoring and enforcement
We monitor traffic patterns, complaints and network reports to protect consumers and our licence. If we reasonably believe this policy has been breached, we may block messages, suspend a sender ID, short code or account, or end the agreement. Where the breach is serious we may act without notice. We cooperate with the NCC, the networks and law enforcement, and may share records with them where the law allows. You are responsible for fines, refunds and costs that arise from your breach.
Reporting abuse
If you receive an unwanted or suspicious message sent through a Venix service, send the sender ID or short code, the date and time and a screenshot to hello@venixpartners.com. We look into every report. You can also text STOP to 2442 to block unsolicited promotional messages on any Nigerian network.
